1965-1966 Ford FE Engine A/C Idler and Tension Pulley Rebuild - part 3 of 3
2023, November 14
part 1 - part 2 - part 3Continued from page 2: Use the same process as for the tension pulley:
Fits like a glove.
Parts stack up.
On the idler you can leave it longer since it doesn't interfere and because the press depth is so shallow on this one a little longer is just more insurance.
Face cut for measuring.
Same measurement process as the tension pulley, again the base height are not the same between idler bases so you have to measure every single one.
Final turn down and polish.
Assembly order.
Same deal.
Doesn't get much better than that.
And there it is, rebuilt pulleys of which are now easily either replaced as a whole or just the bearing, which is a standard common bearing.
I will say this I would automatically replace the bearings in the brand new pulley's with Timkens as the bearings that come with the new pulleys are cheap bearings and some of them don't feel that great brand new out of the box (some have loads of play, some do not).
Cheers.
