1968 Ford XL Hide-A-Way Headlamps Overhaul and Lumen Upgrade : 03 Head Lamp Assembly

Because the aftermarket bulbs are a combined Low/High beams the tabs do not all line up. The important one is the lower left because that will lock the composite housing in the proper orientation.
At this point it really doesn't matter if the composites are Low/High or just High beam bulbs as they are both the same even though the buckets are stamped with the lettering. Just make sure the right and left side buckets are on the correct side.
The thing I found so amusing and yet disturbing, is that Ford overbuilt some parts of this car and then way under built others. This headlight housing IS one under built part. The sides are way to thin for the door stop adjustments as evidenced by the cracking and ripping of the metal. These base pieces are zinc die-cast and not terribly strong.
Since the original headlamp threaded inserts were all falling apart due to age, these replacements work really well. They are just license plate inserts. I've used these on the '66 Galaxies and the Dodge truck.
They fit the stock holes just fine.
Next is the headlamp bucket springs.
The springs installed.
