I used the routing for the old vacuum hoses instead for the wiring for the headlamp motor.

This portion of the harness contains the motor wires and the optional inner low beams select wire.

The other end of the loose wires ends here for now. This where the relays for the direct feed to the headlamps and horns will eventually go.

Next was prototype hell and getting that Ford Probe headlamp motor to fit reasonably well and getting the system as a whole to work properly with those heavy headlamp doors on the XL.

This was my first attempt and it worked well right from the get go. I was surprised.

This is the Ford Probe headlamp motor, left hand side. Even though it works, I want to go through it to make sure it will keep on working and I need to modify the venting schema on this since it mounts up-side-down in the XL with respect to how it normally mounts in the Probe.

The problem with the vent is that it will now face up in the XL and water can simply enter and fill the whole darn thing and ruin it. That little rats maze right above the motor in the photo above is the vent trap. I will remove that cover and insert a small vent tube that runs down the length of the motor body.

This motor was in really good shape internally. I took it all apart, relubed everything, stripped and painted it and put it back together.

Here you can see the vent tube I added and it's sealed to the case.

The tube I used is just 1/4" stainless tube with an EPDM cap with a small hole drilled to further reduce any splash up from rain this will see. After all it is my daily driver.

This is the mounting bracket I made that mounts to the original plate and location as the old vacuum servo.
