This is bagged for now to keep it clean.

Time for this assembly.

A crude fixture for holding the third member housing.

This holds the third member housing quite nicely.

Next, install the pinion races.

The outer race is easy to install first.

However I found this arrangement works for setting the other race. These are the caliper pistons from the '68 XL front disc brakes. Again the pistons are the perfect size for these races.

Done

New pinion bearing.

Lightly lubed bearings.

Crush sleeve.

An old piece of PVC pipe works well to set the outer bearing onto the crush sleeve lightly.

New pinion seal, I also smear a light coating of Ultra Black RTV around the seal.

Set the seal with a polymer drift and mallet.
